Autodesk exists to help build a better world—designed and created for everyone. Our customers across various industries depend on us to address challenges, big and small. This responsibility is immense and urgent. We have the chance to empower innovators by providing them with the tools they need to analyze data and uncover insights that drive innovation, leading to greater efficiency, sustainability, and growth. Offering solutions that enable our customers to extract actionable insights from their designs and make informed decisions at scale is central to our commitment to sustainability.
Recently, I’m thrilled to announce that we’ve launched our inaugural sustainability bond, totaling $1 billion. This move aligns our impact strategy with our financial goals. The funds raised will be directed toward current and future projects aligned with Autodesk’s sustainability strategy, focusing on delivering meaningful environmental and social benefits where it matters most to our business, our customers, and other stakeholders.
But our impact starts internally too. I strongly believe that setting an example is critical, and I’m deeply passionate about how finance can spearhead sustainability efforts. Proudly, as of our 2021 fiscal year, Autodesk has achieved net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across our entire business and supply chain, thanks to the introduction of the Autodesk Carbon Fund and a revised carbon pricing mechanism.
Equally significant is our ongoing collaboration with customers and industries to foster a more sustainable future. We understand that solving today's problems requires collective action.
The investments from our sustainability bond will not only benefit our customers and stakeholders but also accelerate our joint progress toward achieving Autodesk’s vision of a world designed and built for all. This bond allows our investors to partner with us in addressing issues aligned with key environmental, social, and governance (ESG) indicators as well as internationally recognized UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
Our focus will be on both environmental and social initiatives, including:
- **Eco-efficient Products, Production Technologies, and Processes**: Enhancing software capabilities to provide insights that boost energy, waste, and water efficiency in building, infrastructure, and industrial projects.
- **Sustainable Water and Wastewater Management**: Leveraging technology to design more cost-effective and sustainable water distribution networks, collection systems, treatment plants, and flood protection systems.
- **Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency**: Building on our achievement of net-zero GHG emissions across our operations by further reducing our carbon footprint through efficiency improvements and renewable energy adoption.
- **Green Buildings**: Advancing technology to support the design, construction, maintenance, and refurbishment of buildings to minimize their total carbon impact over their lifecycle.
- **Pollution Prevention and Control**: Supporting projects that mitigate GHG emissions, capture and store carbon, and develop innovative approaches to remove and avoid carbon pollution.
- **Socioeconomic Advancement and Empowerment**: Initiatives aimed at fostering economic opportunities and equity for underrepresented groups, promoting diversity and inclusion, and enhancing access to quality education.
Autodesk’s Sustainability Financing Framework will guide these investments, and we will report annually on our progress. This marks another significant step in our mission to design and build a better world for all.
As we move forward, we’re committed to continuous improvement and transparency. Together, we can create a more sustainable and equitable future for generations to come.
