It’s been more than a year since the world was turned upside down by the global spread of COVID-19. Back then, no one could have predicted just how deeply it would reshape our daily lives, work routines, and even the way businesses operated. While safety measures and virtual communication are still part of our new normal, the initial fear and uncertainty have gradually transformed into resilience, innovation, and hope—especially among MACC members like Nationwide Coils.
How did your business cope in the early months of the pandemic?
Under FDA guidelines, we were considered an essential business and continued serving our customers, many of whom were also classified as essential. Hospitals, in particular, relied heavily on us for their climate control needs during the crisis. Even though business slowed compared to 2019, we never stopped production and maintained full operations throughout the entire period. We tightened our spending and reduced non-essential expenses, but we kept all employees on board and fully operational.
Did any of your employees test positive for COVID-19, and how did you manage that?
There were a few cases of employees testing positive, and they followed CDC protocols by quarantining. Fortunately, this didn’t disrupt our operations, and we managed it with care and support as a team.
When did you start seeing a real turnaround in business, and what changes did you notice?
Business remained steady through much of 2021, but things started to pick up significantly after the severe winter storm hit the central U.S., especially Texas. The disruption caused by the storm led to increased demand for our services. As someone who has been in business for nearly two decades, I've learned to expect ups and downs. With vaccination efforts gaining momentum, we're cautiously optimistic about the future.
What does the coming year look like for your company?
The outlook is looking very positive for Nationwide Coils. We’ve secured some major contracts, expanded our team, and are excited to move our New York headquarters to a larger, more efficient space. It's an exciting time for growth and progress.
