This is from Scott Peterson:
On Tuesday, February 19, 2013, a fire alarm was dispatched to a residential home in the gated community of Lake Barrington Shores at 612 Shoreline Road. The initial call reported smoke coming from the structure and a person trapped inside. As units were en route, another medical alert was received indicating that a smoke detector had been activated.Fire crews from Wauconda Fire Protection District and Lake Zurich Fire Department arrived quickly. The Wauconda engine and Lake Zurich engine responded simultaneously through auto-aid. Knowing there was a report of a trapped individual, they immediately began a primary search. They found the victim within minutes and safely removed them.A Nunda Rural Ambulance had already been specially called by the Wauconda Shift Commander while still en route, as it was close to the scene. The victim was transported and taken to the hospital, but was later pronounced deceased. Fortunately, the fire remained contained to the original unit with no spread to other structures.I arrived on the scene shortly after the fire department had completed their search and rescued the victim. Here are some photos of what I saw at the scene.Scott
