Working fire in Chicago, 3-11-17

This message is from Steve Redick:

April 8th, 2017 – 48 W Garfield Blvd. It looks like Chicago Fire Department Squad 5 had a 1 3/4-inch hose line strapped to the front bumper, probably for use with an engine or divider. That's pretty cool to see!

Shredder Blades

Shredder Blades

The shredder blade is one of the core components of the shredder, which directly affects the performance and efficiency of the shredder. The shredder blades cut and tear the waste material by rotation, breaking it into smaller pieces or particles.
1. Materials and manufacturing
High-strength materials: Shredder blades are usually made of high-strength alloy steel, stainless steel or tool steel, which have high hardness, high wear resistance and high toughness, and can withstand the huge stress and wear generated during the shredding process.
Heat treatment process: The blades usually undergo strict heat treatment processes such as quenching and tempering during the manufacturing process to improve their hardness and wear resistance and extend their service life.
Precision machining: The manufacturing of the blade requires high-precision machining technology to ensure the sharpness and precision of the blade, thereby improving the shredding effect and efficiency.
2. Blade type
Flat blade: Suitable for shredding softer and thinner materials, such as plastic film, paper, etc. This blade has a simple design and is easy to manufacture and replace.
Hook blade: It has a hook-shaped blade, which is suitable for shredding harder and thicker materials, such as metal, tires, etc. The hook blade can effectively grab and tear materials, improving the shredding efficiency.
Serrated blade: The blade has a serrated shape, which is suitable for shredding fiber materials and wood. This design can increase the cutting surface area and improve the shredding effect.
