On Saturday afternoon (8/30), I happened to witness a fire at a restaurant in Gary, Indiana. The incident occurred on 47th and Broadway, and I was fortunate enough to be near 35th and Broadway when the emergency call came in. The fire initially broke out in the kitchen area, but it was swiftly contained by the firefighters who arrived on the scene.
To address any potential questions, the man in civilian clothes you might see in one of the photos is actually the restaurant owner. That particular image was captured within the first minute of the firefighters' arrival. He stepped away shortly after. If you had arrived just five minutes later, there wouldn’t have been much left to see. The final image shows Engine 5, which happens to be the newest addition to their fleet.
