This partnership builds on a longstanding relationship between the two entities, with a particular focus on jointly developing BIM (Building Information Modeling) software tailored to meet the specific needs of the European market. STRABAG's extensive hands-on experience from construction sites across Europe will play a pivotal role in shaping these software solutions, ensuring they are practical and effective. These developments will be rigorously tested and refined within ongoing construction projects.
A significant emphasis will be placed on integrating BIM applications into construction and logistics processes. Both companies believe there is vast untapped potential in leveraging BIM technology. As a starting point, the companies are hosting a series of joint workshops where specialists from both sides tackle key challenges and explore innovative ideas. The initial workshop series, centered around infrastructure—a core area of focus for STRABAG—is already underway. With Germany alone facing massive infrastructure upgrades, including the renovation of approximately 2,500 bridges to accommodate growing traffic demands, there are numerous opportunities for the construction industry. Additionally, BIM is becoming increasingly essential as a planning tool for public-sector tenders beginning in 2020.
