The fire broke out around 1:30 PM on Saturday (January 28, 2017), at an incredible old house from the 1800s located at the corner of 45th and Ellis. I got there shortly after the 5th Battalion had it under control. From what I could see, the flames seemed to be concentrated in the attic area. The adjacent building that caught fire was reported to be vacant and in pretty bad shape, but luckily, the fire was contained within the originally occupied part of the structure.

It's always tough to witness fires like this, especially in such historic buildings. The firefighters did an impressive job containing the damage and keeping the situation under control. Let’s hope the investigation can determine the cause soon to prevent anything similar in the future.
