Winnetka Box Alarm 11-15-12 (updated)

The Winnetka Fire Department was called to a residence on the 800 block of Bryant Avenue before 4 a.m. upon arrival, firefighters discovered a basement fire in a home undergoing renovation. The blaze quickly spread across the first floor and moved through the walls into the second level. At 4:30 a.m., the alarm was upgraded from Code 3 to Code 4 and then escalated to a Box Alarm as the situation worsened. Tim Olk arrived early and captured several photos of the scene, while Larry Shapiro came later and also contributed multiple images. The response included engine companies from Winnetka, Glencoe, Highland Park, and Evanston, along with ambulances from Winnetka and Wilmette. Tower trucks from Winnetka, Northfield, Highwood, Glenview, and Skokie were also on the scene, along with Morton Grove Squad 4. Chief officers from Winnetka, Wilmette, Northbrook, Northfield, and Glenview were present to oversee operations.
