SAN FRANCISCO – (BUSINESS WIRE) – After two months of traveling across the country, the 3DRV: Driven by Design road tour has started to reveal the wide range of ways that companies and individuals are using 3D design, reality capture, and fabrication technologies to shape the world around them.
TJ McCue, the host of the 3DRV tour and an author, is not only sharing his journey but also raising awareness about 3D technology. He’s helping people understand how they can use these tools, many of which are free or low-cost, to bring their ideas to life.
“From everyday consumers to business owners, people find 3D scanning, printing, and design both fascinating and sometimes confusing. But when we start talking about it, they’re always curious, engaged, and genuinely interested in learning more,†said McCue.
The 3DRV road tour, which began on May 16, 2014, and is sponsored by Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK), HP, NVIDIA, Stratasys, FARO, and Jayco, will make over 100 stops across the U.S. in eight months. The first leg of the tour has already highlighted a variety of creative uses of 3D technology, from Maker Faire events to building a lunar lander and 3D printing in space. Other examples include modeling for clean air in operating rooms, personal manufacturing with projects like "Monkey Likes Shiny," laser scanning a Starbucks, and using free 3D design apps and 3D printing in the arts.
“There's innovation happening everywhere in this country, and it's giving us a glimpse into where the future of making things is headed,†said Amar Hanspal, senior vice president at Autodesk. “This tour aligns perfectly with our mission to help everyone design and create anything they can imagine.â€
In just 69 days, McCue has driven 4,627 miles, made 32 stops, consumed 207 cups of coffee, and written 33 blog posts. “There’s definitely a strong pulse out there. It quickens when people realize we're on the edge of a real revolution in making things—and that it's open to them,†he added. “After six weeks on the road, it's clear that manufacturing isn’t just for factories anymore. Affordable and accessible tech now lets anyone be their own designer and manufacturer.â€

Fluorine-containing Biomedical Materials
The characteristics of the fluorine atom make the stability and physiological activity of the organic fluorine compound increase significantly, thus exerting a good medicinal effect; the fluorine-containing organic compound also has high fat solubility and hydrophobicity, which promotes its absorption and transmission speed in the body, and changes Some physiological functions in the human body are affected. Therefore, fluorine-containing biomedical materials have developed rapidly in recent years.
