New truck for Huntley FPD

The Huntley Fire Protection District has officially received their new 103-foot SpartanERV quint, marking an exciting milestone for the department. This state-of-the-art apparatus is set to enhance their emergency response capabilities and support the growing needs of the community. In a related development, Huntley’s previous Pierce quint—once a vital part of their fleet—was recently acquired by the Shavertown Fire Department in Pennsylvania. The transfer came after a thoughtful decision made by the department back in 2013. On Saturday, July 21, 2013, at the recommendation of the truck committee, the fire department unanimously voted to purchase a used 2002 Pierce Dash 105 quint equipped with a 2000 gpm pump and a 500-gallon water tank. This vehicle was chosen to replace their aging unit, which had become insufficient as the community grew and as the department continued to serve as a first-due company for Back Mt. Regional Fire. The new apparatus is expected to be placed into service in early October, following its arrival in September.
