Plainfield Fire Protection District news

From the Plainfield Fire Protection District: Hi everyone, I wanted to share some heartfelt words about someone we've lost far too soon. Mike Ludemann, our beloved Emergency Vehicle Technician, unexpectedly passed away on Sunday, February 21, 2016. He was only 54 years old. Mike joined us back in 2004 and quickly became an integral part of our team. His colleagues remember him as a kind-hearted man who would always lend a helping hand. The entire fire department feels this loss deeply, not just because of his technical expertise but because of how much he meant to each of us personally. We extend our sincerest condolences to Mary, his wife, and the rest of Mike's family during this incredibly difficult time. Visitation will take place on Thursday, February 25th from 3 PM to 8 PM at Overman-Jones Funeral Home on the corner of Routes 30 and 59 in Plainfield. The funeral service will be held at 10 AM on Friday, February 26th at St. John Lutheran Church on Plainfield Road in Joliet, followed by interment at the Plainfield Township Cemetery. Thanks to Dan for sharing this news. From the Herald-News.com: Just last Sunday, we lost a cherished member of our community when Mike Ludemann, our dedicated emergency vehicle technician, passed away suddenly. Chief David Riddle shared that Mike’s wife, fellow firefighter Mary Kay Ludemann, informed him that Mike hadn’t been feeling well earlier in the day. Despite being rushed to Edward Hospital in Naperville, Mike’s condition deteriorated rapidly, and he passed away later that afternoon. Chief Riddle described the atmosphere at the station as extremely somber. There was no prior indication of any health issues that might have foreshadowed this tragic event. Beyond maintaining our vehicles, Mike built strong bonds with personnel across various departments in Plainfield. Prior to joining our team, he had also done repair work for the Lockport Township and Downers Grove fire districts. Riddle emphasized that Mike left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered since starting with us in 2004. Known affectionately as the go-to person for anything mechanical or otherwise, Mike earned widespread respect and admiration. To honor his memory, the fire district plans to hold a solemn walk-through during his visitation. This is such a devastating loss for all of us. If you could keep Mike’s loved ones in your thoughts and prayers, it would mean a lot. Thanks again to Dan for sending over these updates. - [Your Name] Plainfield Fire Protection District Staff Writer
