U.S. Upgrades the "Double Opposite Sides" of Wakakatsu Tire

Recently, according to preliminary survey forecast the US International Trade Commission (ITC), imports from India, TBR tires (truck, passenger car radial tire) the dumping margin is expected to 10.7% -76.45%, imports from China of truck and bus tires at an estimated margin of dumping 11.2%-77.69%.

Titan International and the U.S. Steel Workers Union (USW) jointly applied for "double reverse" to Wakakatsu tires.
Titan International and the U.S. Steel Workers Union (USW) jointly applied for "double reverse" to Wakakatsu tires.

Titan International claims that once the U.S. Department of Commerce and the ITC have determined that there are tax evasion actions for the U.S. card passenger/tire wheel importers, they will file a lawsuit.

Recently, the United States Department of Commerce and ITC launched anti-dumping and anti-subsidy investigations on truck and car tires from China, India and Sri Lanka due to a joint application from Titian International and the US Steel Workers Union (USW).

ITC announced preliminary results on February 19 and will submit it to the U.S. Department of Commerce on February 22.

If ITC determines that there is “double reverse” behavior, the US Department of Commerce will make a preliminary ruling on anti-subsidy around April 8 and make a preliminary ruling on anti-dumping around June 22; if ITC believes that there is no “double reverse” behavior The investigation will be terminated.

Titan International CEO Morris Taylor affirmed the preliminary findings of US agencies and called it "the first step in fighting."

“The dumping margins tell us how hard the agricultural tire industry in the United States has been. Titanic and USW have once again joined forces to crack down on foreign manufacturers that violate US law. Importers who attempt to harm US suppliers have brought US manufacturing practitioners a chance. Disaster.

It is reported that US Presidential candidate Trump has repeatedly stated that these importing countries have been squeezing the middle class in the United States. Now only a few agricultural tire manufacturers in the United States have survived.

It is worth mentioning that American agricultural tire manufacturers such as Bridgestone Americas, Mitax Tire North America, and American Special Tire Company have not publicly commented on the applications of Titian and USW.

In his speech, Maurice Taylor pointed out that the United States has imposed tax on Chinese tire manufacturers, but when a tire is assembled into a wheel, it is no longer considered a tire.

"The funny thing is that steel is now taxed, but after assembling steel and tires, there is no tax on assembled wheel products. Just like Trump said, 'This is very stupid,' I agree with him. In order to create a level playing field, Te International and USW must apply to the U.S. Department of Commerce and ITC."

According to a fact sheet issued by the International Trade Bureau of the US Department of Commerce, the import volume of tires imported from China fell by nearly 99% year-on-year to US$619 in 2014, and the import volume of assembled wheels imported from India and Sri Lanka was the same They fell 11.4% and 18.9% respectively. The specification does not show the U.S. market share of these products.

Maurice Taylor said: “Timor has won the battle before, this time. Titian International has asked the lawyers to carefully study the federal laws to see if there is any reason to sue the tire importer’s tax evasion action. Relief."
