In his speech, Maurice Taylor pointed out that the United States has imposed tax on Chinese tire manufacturers, but when a tire is assembled into a wheel, it is no longer considered a tire.

According to a fact sheet issued by the International Trade Bureau of the US Department of Commerce, the import volume of tires imported from China fell by nearly 99% year-on-year to US$619 in 2014, and the import volume of assembled wheels imported from India and Sri Lanka was the same They fell 11.4% and 18.9% respectively. The specification does not show the U.S. market share of these products.
