Porsche’s global sales decline in July decreased by 5 times

Porsche's global sales decline in July According to Reuters news recently, Porsche’s sales in various regional markets in July were mixed, and sales in the Chinese market surged five times compared to the same period of last year. However, due to the sudden drop in the European market, global sales volume dropped slightly year-on-year.

In July 2011, Porsche sold 10,722 vehicles in the global market, down 4% from 11,169 vehicles in the same period last year. The cumulative sales of the first seven months (Year-to-date) were 71,381 vehicles, which was dragged down by the decline in July. The growth rate from the same period of last year was reduced from 36% in the first half to 29%. The main reason for the decline of Porsche's global sales in July was a 38% year-on-year decline in sales in the European market.

Among the regional markets, the fastest growing market came from the Chinese market. In July, sales were 2,484 units, an increase of nearly 500% over the same period of last year. The cumulative sales of 14,751 vehicles in the Chinese market in the first seven months have made China Porsche the second largest market in Asia. While the U.S. market changed more slowly, sales of 2,768 units in July rose slightly by 2.4% year-on-year.

From a model point of view, Cayenne maintains the best-selling Porsche title, occupying 5,483 of the 10,722. Panamera finally rose by 2.5% in July after sales fell 3.2% year-on-year in the first half of the year. Analysts attributed the Panamera's ups and downs to overly fast model changes, such as the Panamera S Hybrid.
