The ZY1200 automatic new wall brick hydroforming machine, developed by Luoyang Zhongye Heavy Industry (Group) Co., Ltd., was officially launched at the China SME Innovation and Development Achievement Exhibition from July 19th to July 22nd. This groundbreaking equipment has generated significant interest in the industry, as it fills a critical gap in the Henan market, where no similar product existed before.
According to available information, the ZY1200 has secured seven domestic technical patents and addresses common shortcomings found in both domestic and international molding machines. It is a high-tech system that combines mechanical, electronic, hydraulic, and wall technology. The machine is widely used across sectors such as power generation, metallurgy, and chemical industries. Each unit can process nearly 100,000 tons of industrial waste annually, including pulverized coal, fly ash, slag, and calcium carbide slag, transforming them into valuable bricks.
Ai Xin, assistant general manager of China Metallurgical Heavy Industry (Group) Co., Ltd., expressed excitement about the ZY1200’s potential, stating that its ability to convert industrial waste into bricks not only reduces environmental pollution but also promotes resource recycling. “It’s a win-win solution for sustainability and economic efficiency,†he said.
Historically, the development of autoclaved fly ash bricks was hindered by the lack of large-scale hydroforming equipment. Before 2005, China relied heavily on imported fully automatic hydroforming machines or modified ceramic presses from domestic manufacturers. While imported equipment offered stable performance, it came with high costs—three to four times more expensive than local alternatives—and long spare parts supply chains, which often disrupted production. Domestic equipment, although cheaper, was less reliable and struggled to meet design output targets, leading many brick producers to face financial losses.
To address these challenges, China Metallurgical Heavy Industries restructured its operations and focused on developing waste-reducing, eco-friendly, and energy-efficient products. Leveraging its R&D capabilities, the company collaborated with universities, research institutes, and brick manufacturers to assemble a team of experts in new wall materials. With over 5 million yuan invested, the company combined foreign technology with its own expertise in large-scale equipment manufacturing and automation. This effort led to the creation of the ZY1200, which now stands as the most advanced and automated wall brick hydroforming machine in China, offering ease of use, safety, and independent intellectual property rights.
