Building and Infrastructure Industry Customers Surge to Autodesk in Fourth Quarter

Public Company Information: NASDAQ: ADSK "We are working tirelessly to provide the tools and services that enable our customers to radically improve how buildings and infrastructure are designed and built, and our customers are clearly responding." San Francisco — (Business Wire) — In the fiscal quarter ended January 31, Autodesk, Inc. (NASDAQ: ADSK) closed dozens of new and expanded deals in the architecture, engineering, construction, and infrastructure industries. As the adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) continues to grow globally, more firms in the building and infrastructure sectors are turning to Autodesk's software solutions to streamline their workflows. In the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry, Autodesk delivered a strong fourth quarter, marking a record year with revenue from its AEC product suites rising by 32% year-over-year. The company recorded a significant number of multi-million-dollar transactions, including its largest deal to date. Autodesk BIM 360, a cloud-based platform for construction management and jobsite execution, saw particularly high customer adoption and has become one of the fastest-growing products in the company’s history. “Amar Hanspal, Senior Vice President of Autodesk’s Information Modeling and Platform Group, stated, “As architecture firms, contractors, and engineering companies increasingly recognize the power of BIM to enhance every aspect of design and construction, users of our BIM solutions are experiencing major productivity gains through reduced errors, rework, and costs. Our cloud and mobile services are especially in demand because they make the value of BIM accessible anywhere, anytime—from the office to the field.” New or expanded partnerships include AECOM, Black & Veatch Corporation, China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), Fluor, HDR Engineering, Qatar Rail, and PCL Construction, among many others. These agreements bring Autodesk’s BIM solutions to a wide range of architecture practices, engineering firms, contractors, and asset owners. Turner Construction Company, one of North America’s largest construction firms, has seen significant benefits from using Autodesk BIM solutions, particularly on the Oakland International Airport renovation project. Lincoln Wood, from Turner Construction, said, “Autodesk BIM 360 Glue is more than just visualization—it supports information collaboration and has improved our efficiency. The mobile app represents the next step in coordination and communication with the field. As a contractor, I believe the field is ready to leverage this technology in exciting ways.” In January, the European Union issued a directive encouraging the use of BIM on public works projects across its 28 member states. This follows similar mandates in countries such as Australia, Brazil, China, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea, Singapore, the United Kingdom, and the United States. Contractors have now surpassed architects as the fastest-growing adopters of BIM. According to the 2014 McGraw Hill Construction Smart Market Report, contractors expect the percentage of their work involving BIM to increase by an average of 50% over the next two years. “With strong global momentum behind BIM, Autodesk is leading the way in this business process transformation,” added Hanspal. “We’re helping our customers fully realize the potential of BIM to collaborate, simulate, visualize, and optimize project outcomes. We are committed to providing the tools and services that allow our customers to radically improve how buildings and infrastructure are designed and built—and they are clearly responding.” About Autodesk Autodesk empowers people to imagine, design, and create a better world.
