ELVIs officially started the electric vehicle innovation research project

An innovative research project ELVIIS, which spans multiple industries and is designed to introduce mobile communication technology into electric vehicles, is used to identify and eliminate barriers to daily use of electric vehicles.

ELVIIS is a consortium of Volvo Car Corporation, Ericsson, Utilities and Victoria College. The concept of the project includes: The owner can charge the battery pack through any common domestic power outlet. The location of the outlet can be identified by GPS; Pre-set the charging time and charging amount on the touch screen or remotely through a smart phone or tablet; communicate through the mobile network, the car and the public power grid, and set a charging scheme to obtain the most favorable price. The system will record the charge for each charge directly on the owner’s personal electricity bill.

According to reports, the Volvo C30 electric car has become the test vehicle for this project. This car is equipped with an integrated color touch screen, and the charging process can be smoothly completed with a fingertip touch. Currently there will be 5 C30 electric vehicles for the one-year testing and evaluation of the technology. "This smart technology is developed on a common communications platform that is globally applicable.
