In early June, a team of four gypsum experts visited our company, Liaodong Dongda Powder Engineering Technology Co., Ltd., to provide comprehensive guidance and engage in technical discussions regarding the development of our natural gypsum, synthetic gypsum, and phosphogypsum calcination processes. The visit aimed to evaluate the potential of our products and offer expert insights into improving efficiency and quality.
The experts were particularly impressed with the performance of the equipment that had already been successfully implemented by a manufacturer in Beijing. They thoroughly reviewed the analysis data of the output products and gave their full approval. Their endorsement was a significant boost for our research and development efforts. The system demonstrated low operational costs, high efficiency, and clear advantages over similar domestic solutions, which the experts acknowledged as a major competitive edge.
Furthermore, the comprehensive utilization of phosphogypsum waste accumulated in power plants, along with sulfur gypsum from phosphate fertilizer facilities, is expected to open up promising opportunities for sustainable development in the industry. This initiative not only addresses environmental concerns but also enhances resource efficiency and economic value.
Among the expert group members, Professor Yue Wenhai stands out as a leading figure in the field of gypsum materials in China. He is currently the Deputy Chairman of the Gypsum and Gypsum Products Professional Committee at the China Silicate Academy and a professor at Wuhan University of Technology. Having graduated from Nanjing University in 1954, he spent a year as a visiting scholar at Oklahoma State University in 1989–1990. Throughout his career, he has held several key leadership positions, including Director of the Materials Research and Testing Center at Wuhan University of Technology and member of the National Building Materials Bureau's Open Research Laboratory. His contributions to the field have earned him a special government allowance from the State Council.
Professor Yue has dedicated over six decades to the study of gypsum theory and application. In the 1970s, he began mentoring graduate students and pioneered the use of modern testing methods in China. His work on the phase transformation of gypsum during dehydration laid the foundation for understanding the formation of β-hemihydrate gypsum through nucleation-diffusion mechanisms. He also introduced the two-step method for producing β-hemihydrate gypsum, significantly enhancing its strength. His research on the aging mechanism of calcined gypsum, the role of α-hemihydrate crystallization agents, and the activation of anhydrite has had a lasting impact on the industry.
Another notable member of the group is Professor Chen Yan. A graduate of Fudan University’s Department of Chemistry in August 1953, he worked in various capacities within the Chinese construction and building materials sectors. He served at the Harbin Institute of Civil Engineering and Architecture, the Chinese Academy of Architectural Sciences, and the Building Research Institute under the Ministry of Industry and Construction. Later, he focused on local materials and wall construction, contributing to national housing policies and projects, including those related to Tibet’s infrastructure development.
Throughout his career, Professor Chen has played a vital role in shaping China’s building materials industry. He has served as an expert advisor for multiple organizations, including the China Building Materials Association, the Housing Industrialization Expert Committee, and the Waterproof Material Association. His extensive experience and technical expertise have made him a respected voice in the field of construction materials and housing modernization.
