In order to win the competitive advantage of FAW in the natural gas heavy truck market, in September 2009, Xichai combined with FAW Technology Center to start the development of the CA6SN1-42E4N2 natural gas engine with the largest domestic power. The CA6SN1-42E4N has a power of 420 horsepower and can extend down to 390 horsepower. It matches the J5P and J6P liberation heavy trucks and is used in Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, Shanxi and other natural gas-rich areas in the Guangyu area as a long-distance transport of coal carts and mineral resources. The mileage is 1000 kilometers.

CA6SN1-42E4N2 engine has the advantages of advanced technology, excellent economy, low carbon emission, and reliability and durability. Its large displacement, high degree of enhancement, maximum torque of 1700N.m; use of diesel than the economic, environmentally friendly natural gas as fuel, 100 kilometers to save fuel costs more than 30%; compared with the same power of the diesel engine, carbon monoxide emissions decreased by 90%, carbon dioxide reduction 20%, hydrocarbons reduced by 60%, nitrogen oxides reduced by 60%; no carbon deposition, no dilution of lubricating oil, can effectively reduce component wear, can withstand strong heat load, and extend engine life.

The CA6SN1-42E4N2 natural gas engine is the product of Xichai's strategic adjustment of energy saving and emission reduction and energy structure. It fills the gap in the industry of high-power natural gas engines of over 400 horsepower in China. Its successful development marks the high power of Xichai. The development of natural gas engines will gradually be integrated with international standards. At the same time, the successful development of the CA6SN1-42E4N2 natural gas engine also enabled Xichai natural gas engine to achieve a full range of coverage in the 170-420 power segment, occupying the commanding heights of market competition.
