Statistics show that the production and sales of automobiles in January-May were 800,300 units and 8,023,500 units, an increase of 3.2% and 1.7% respectively over the same period of the previous year. At the same time, sales of small-displacement cars of 1.6 liters and below achieved 3.0624 million units in the first five months, a year-on-year increase of 3.4%, which is also the first positive growth this year.
According to the statistics of the China Automobile Association, the production and sales of automobiles in May reached 1,570,900 and 1,607,200 units, an increase of 16.2% and 16.0% year-on-year. Among them, the production and sales of passenger cars were 1,269,100 and 1,281,900 respectively, an increase of 21.6% and 22.6%, which was higher than the overall growth rate of the automobile. Commercial vehicles are still declining, with production and sales only 301,800 and 325,300. At the same time, the market share of self-owned brand passenger vehicles fell by 3.3 percentage points. “The data shows that the market competition pressure faced by self-owned brand passenger cars is gradually increasing.†Zhu Yiping, secretary-in-chief of CCIC, said that the German car performance was the most outstanding in the first five months, and the growth rate was close to 20%.
