Cummins Cuts Columbus Fuel System Plant Capacity

Cummins Inc. announced that in order to cope with the continued decline in market demand, the company reduced production of its Columbus fuel system plant, shortening the man-hours of the factory's employees.

Cummins said that it will reduce the production capacity of the Columbus fuel system plant and adjust the factory's working hours. The Columbus fuel system plant has a total of 512 union employees, of whom 350 employees will be affected and their working hours will be reduced from the previous 40 hours per week to 32 hours per week.

Of the auto parts produced by the Columbus fuel system plant, 70% were shipped to Cummins's other plants, and Cummins reduced production at the plant, indicating that fuel system demand has fallen. In addition, Cummins spokesman Jon Mills said that the company also cut production at its factories in New York and Brazil.

In early September, Cummins implemented a recruitment freeze plan worldwide because of Cummins’ decline in sales in markets such as North America, China, and Brazil, and stated that the plan will continue until at the end of this year at least.
