It is reported that Belgium Solvay Group will invest 26 million euros to expand Solef polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) production capacity in Tavol, France, after the company had expanded the production capacity of the production plant by 30% in 2009. The expansion is expected to be Completed in the second half of 2012. PVDF is mainly produced using oil and natural gas condensate as raw materials. The products are mainly used in the fields of binders and lithium batteries, separators in photovoltaic cells and semiconductors, and water purification filter membranes. According to Solvay, over the past five years, the global PVDF market demand has grown at an average annual rate of more than 10%.
